Interior design firms to Feltex
Feltex New Zealand, ltd, has acquired a 100 per cent interest in two Australian companies, Co Design, Pty, Ltd, and Co Design Fricker, Pty, Ltd. The purchase is for cash and has been approved by the Australian Foreign Investment Review Board.
Co Design, a leading company in the Australian commercial interior market, manufactures and markets sytems furniture and general office furniture.
“Feltex has spent considerable time studying a number of markets in Australia and sees the commercial interior market as one with a lot of potential,” said, the managing director, Mr Peter Stanes.
“Although our direct experience in office furniture is limited, this business is clearly complementary to our existing carpet operations, particularly the newly established Feltex modular carpets in Sydney. “We are convinced that Co Design, which is a major investment for us, will provide an ideal vehicle for entry to this market.” Over recent months Co
Design has won contracts to supply systems furniture to new buildings and refurbishing existing buildings for a wide variety of major Australian clients including banks, computer and insurance companies, legal and accounting firms, federal and state government organisations. Co Design will continue as an independent operation under the same management and will form a major part of a new Feltex commercial interior group. The chairman of directors of the Co Design companies, Mr Bill Evans, looked forward to the prospect of support from Feltex.
“The continued growth of Co Design is now assured,” he said. “Feltex will expand our ability to service the local market more effectively and, with their experience in the area, the possibilities are tremendous for expanding the business into New Zealand and Asia.”
Co Design with its main office at Lidcombe in Sydney and a total staff of nearly 400, has two plants in Sydney and one in Adelaide.
