Billy T. James show cancelled
The Billy T. James concert to have been telecast live from Aotea Square on Christmas Eve has been cancelled for lack of finance, its promoter, Mr Paul Walker, said. Mr Walker said he had sought between $30,000 and $50,000 to back the concert, but negotiations with sponsors bad fallen through. The Television New Zealand director, Mr Peter Grattan, said he was ex-
tremely disappointed by the cancellation. Artists lined up for the 8.30 p.m. concert had included Peking Man, Sunny Day and the All Stars, Dalvanius Prime and the Patea Maori Club. TVNZ will replace the special with a movie and all the programmes for that evening will be re-scheduled. The 1984 Queen Street riot began during a rock concert in Aotea Square.
