Breaches of rules
The Weedons trainer, Jack Smolenski, was fined $5O and ordered to pay costs of 5100 after pleading guilty to a breach of the severi-day rule. Smolenski submitted a written statement and spoke briefly to it before calling Mr C. Murfitt to speak on the need and effect of the drug sulphaphenazole. The inquiry was heard by Messrs R. R. Templeton (chairman), B. B. Woods and J. G. Phillips. Mr B. McClelland appeared for the Trotting Conference. The Lincoln trainer, Gavin Maginness, was fined $l5O and ordered to pay costs of $l5O when he pleaded guilty to a charge . of failing to notify the transfer of the horse, Monkani Fey, within 14 days after such change had been effected. The hearing was before a sub-committee of the executive comprising Messrs J. G. Phillips (chairman), B. B. Woods and L. W. J. Woods. Charges of misconduct and corrupt, practice involving the horse, Smooth Averil, were opened against Michael Edward Walsh, of Christchurch, who did not appear. The hearing was adjourned to a date to be fixed. . -
