Tears for daughter
PA Auckland Vaovai and Taualagi Faaea tearfully said farewell to their daughter, Seleue, as she was deported to Samoa on Saturday. Seleue Faaea’s final appeal'to the Governor-Gen-eral for mercy was denied and she had to leave, even though her parents and four brothers and sisters are New Zealand citizens. The 19-year-old was caught by an immigration
rule that is probably little known outside - New Zealand’s Pacific Islands community. It decrees that families migrating to New Zealand must consist of no more than mother, father and four children. The rule applies to all families who seek a home in New Zealand, no matter from what country they come.
