Situations Vacant Situations Vacant • MERCURY THEATRE MANAGER APPOINTMENT manager, finance AND ADMINISIMTION AUCKLAND NEW ZEALAND A UNIQUE OPPORTUNITY EXISTS for a manager, finance and administration, of Auckland’s Mercury Theatre, New Zealand s largest professional theatre complex comprising a 670 seat main auditorium and a 184 seat Intimate Theatre, Mercury 2. The Theatre, established in 1968, has at present a company of some 60 persons including actors and administrative staff and the director is Mr Raymond Hawthorne. The Theatre holds a unique position in New Zealand’s largest city with a reputation for presenting fine plays, musicals and opera, of both international and local origin. The Theatre is funded extensively by the Queen Elizabeth II Arts Council of New Zealand, commercial and business house sponsorship, and a successful subscription series. The Theatre is administered by the Auckland Theatre Trust Board consisting of 15 members. THE APPLICANT The successful applicant should have an ability in theatre administration and be able to competently manage and judge the complex financial state of a package investment and touring possibilities, have skill in negotiating and be a responsible decision maker. The manager, finance and administration, will report to the board of the Theatre and will work closely with the director of the Theatre. REMUNERATION The package is negotiable from N.Z. $30,000 per annum. The Theatre would meet moving ex- ’ penses to Auckland. Interviews for the job can be arranged within the next two weeks in both Sydney and Melbourne by representatives of the board. The final interview will be held in Auckland late January, 1986.
