Mandate extended
The United Nations Security Council has unanimously approved another six-montn extension of the mandate of the 2300-man United Nations Peace-keeping Force in Cyprus. The new mandate will expire on June 15, 1986. UNFICYP has been stationed on the Mediterranean island since 1964 to help keep the peace between its ethnic Greek and Turkish communities. The force consists of troops and a small number of civilian police from eight countries: Australia, Austria, Britain, Canada, Denmark,' Finland, Ireland, and Sweden. — New York.
