AUSTRALIA Gold, resources decline

NZPA-AAP Sydney Australian sharemarkets closed easier yesterday with a continuing decline in gold and resource stocks leading the market down, brokers said. Brokers said the market had

been uneasy all the week following the confusion over world oil prices. This unease was increased by the announcement that the National Australia Bank had lifted its benchmark rate to a record 20.25 per cent.
