A house in Aorangi Road, Bryndwr, was sold at auction on December 4 for $140,000. The Government Valuation (1984) was $79,500.
The three-bedroom house is set on three-quarters of an acre of land. It has a large lounge, recently modernised kitchen with a pantry and breakfast bar, and a modern bathroom.
About a dozen people attended the auction. The auctioneer was Mr Denys Chapman, of Ford and Hadfield, Ltd. An ownership flat in Middlepark Road was passed in at auction on December 4. The two-bed-room flat has a Government Valuation (1982) of $32,000. The auctioneer, Mr Gil Knight, of Whittle, Knight and Boatwood, Ltd, said the
flat was now on the market for $58,500.
A house designed by a Christchurch architect, Neil Armstrong, was passed in for $197,000, at auction on December 10, The four-bed-room house, in Lynfield Avenue, Ham, has a Government Valuation (1985) of $176,000. The house includes a large formal dining room, a separate television room, an office or fifth bedroom, a farm-sized kitchen with walk-in pantry, a three-car garage, and a fully fenced, in-ground swimming pool.
The auctioneer, Mr Kent Prier, of Kent Prier Real Estate, said the auction had been attended by.about 20 people. Negotiations were proceeding with two prospective buyers, he said.
