Messenger nominations
Special correspondent Auckland Eight South Island horses have been entered for the New Zealand Messenger at Alexandra Park on December 23.
The $BO,OOO TNT-spon-sored race is for four-year-olds and is run over 2700 m from a mobile start.
It is the big attraction at the Auckland Trotting Club’s twilight meeting. The gates will be open at 1 p.m. and the first race is scheduled to start two hours later. With the last to be run at about 8 p.m., all the races will be run in daylight.
The southerners nominated for the Messenger include Malaz which, along with Placid Victor, has an assessment of C 9. The pair are the most tightly, assessed four-year-olds in the country.
All the best northerners have been entered. The nominations are: Titan Chip, Kev’s Choice, Pay Day, Saucy Star, Gaelic Skipper, Metal Mickey, Grand Return, Free Lancer, Malaz, Chipaluck, Traitor’s Gate, Skipper Vantar, Frederick, Placid Victor, King Nero, Luxury Liner, Poppa Luigi, Jack Hammer, Special Mark, Loveridge, Quiet Touch, Balyna, Storm Command, Nickefemma, Emma’s Lad, Tammera, Nero Reign, Onias, Nardinski.
