Messenger nominations

Special correspondent Auckland Eight South Island horses have been entered for the New Zealand Messenger at Alexandra Park on December 23.

The $BO,OOO TNT-spon-sored race is for four-year-olds and is run over 2700 m from a mobile start.

It is the big attraction at the Auckland Trotting Club’s twilight meeting. The gates will be open at 1 p.m. and the first race is scheduled to start two hours later. With the last to be run at about 8 p.m., all the races will be run in daylight.

The southerners nominated for the Messenger include Malaz which, along with Placid Victor, has an assessment of C 9. The pair are the most tightly, assessed four-year-olds in the country.

All the best northerners have been entered.
