The Geneva talks
Sir,—lt is reported that at the recent summit meeting between the two leaders, President Reagan said that if the world was attacked from outer space, the two countries would quickly become allies and put aside their “minor local differences.” If, to use Mr Reagan’s own words, their differences are local
and minor why has he indulged itf> so much war-wongering rhetoric?* since coming to power. This has raised world tension and fuelled!' the arms race, not only to the~' detriment of social justice in hitown country but also in Third-' World countries where so much is' needed. Instead of building on the wartime alliance between their-' two countries, the U.S. set in place'* anti-Russian propaganda. The--world has been on the brink oF World War 111 ever since.—Yours;etc.,
E. L. BARCLAY. December 5, 1985.
