mayor a TIM’S fpl DEFENCE Lt? fund When Tim Shadbolt was elected as Mayor of Waitemata City he was as surprised as everyone else. He realised that coming straight off the back of a concrete truck into a top management position wasn’t going to be easy. However, most people were delighted by the high-spirited and innovative way in which he tackled his new job. he brought an exciting new dimension into the conservative world of Local Government. He went out with Council work gangs picking up rubbish, mowing grass, or working in the libraries, he organised , a “Know Your City Tour” in which he escorted over 1,000 senior citizens around the City. He became a Marriage Celebrant and in two years married over 150 couples. . But in these two years Mayor Tim has been continually under attack from a faction on his Council. Then the former Mayor sued him, forcing Tim to engage lawyers who succeeded in reducing the amount awarded from the $90,000 claimed to just $6,500. But Tim is now facing a bill of over $40,000. Tim Shadbolt is the sort of person who is always helping others, now it’s him who needs help. Let’s give him a Happy Christmas! PLEASE SEND DONATIONS TO:MAYOR TIM'S DEFENCE FUND P.O.
