Basketball candidate
A life member and former president of the New Zealand Basketball Federation, Mr Morrie Henshall, of Christchurch, is one of three candidates for the presidency at the federation’s annual meeting in Wellington this week-end. The other two candidates are Mr Peter (Christian, of Whangarei, a former president of the Referees’ Association, and Mr David Rout, of Dunedin, vice-presi-dent of the federation and
chairman of the Junior Council. Mr Henshall was president of the federation from 1973 until 1980 when he resigned and his place was taken by a fellow chartered accountant, Mr Graeme Davey, also of Christchurch. Mr Davey’s five-year term was president was highlighted by the introduction of league championships, for both men and women, which have played a large part in the promotion of the sport.
