Cycleway tenders
Tenders will soon be called for a cycleway along Deans Avenue near the new Christchurch Girls’ High School.
Approval was given yesterday by the works and traffic committee of the Christchurch City Council for a $15,000 cycleway to run along the west side of Deans Avenue from Harper Avenue to Matai Street.
The cost of the work will be shared with the Riccarton Borough Council, with a 50 per cent subsidy from the Canterbury United
Council’s urban transport grant. The City Council’s share will be about ?4000. The 3m-wide cycleway will be completed in time for the opening of the school next year.
