NATIONAL SECRETARY TREASURER A VACANCY exists in our Head Office in Wellington for a National Secretary/Treasurer, who will have overall responsibility for the administration and industrial negotiations of this union within the waterfront industry. A wide range of duties will include: • Union administration and organisation, including responsibility for the union’s finances. • Industrial advocacy before the Arbitration Court, the Waterfront Industry Tribunal and in conciliation and dispute hearings. 9 Management of the National Office. The successful applicant will be required to coordinate the activities of a small team of workers in Head Office, to work with and serve bn the Management Committee and National Council of the Union, and to serve as a trustee for the Union’s Superannuation Scheme. Candidates should possess a high standard of oral and written communication skills, reference will be given to a person holding qualifications in law, economics, or industrial relations, with a sound background in industrial relations advocacy, and with appropriate management skills.
