Firm’s auctions cancelled
Proposals to sell several properties of the Transport North Canterbury group of companies have been cancelled. The cancellation of the auctions, previously arranged for December 13, was announced in the auction columns of “The Press” yesterday. The future of the properties was being reviewed, said the group’s chairman
and chief executive, Mr lan Langford, yesterday. Some of the properties would be retained and when the review was completed the others would be sold by private treaty. A Hanmer Springs property would be retained as a holiday home for company staff, said Mr Langford. Some of the Southbrook land, previously to be auc-
tioned, would be retained. The Southbrook land is split between industrial and rural zoning in the Rangiora District Council planning scheme and the company now intends to retain the industrial land and to sell the rural. The review includes other sites at Kaiapoi, Waikari, Waiau, Leithfield, Cheviot, and Domett.
