Big choice in toys for all ages
Shopping for toys this time of year can be a hectic and frazzling experience as everyone gears up for Christmas. Also, the choice of toys can be bewildering to the adult who is not as yet initiated into the world of toys. However, knowing what you want and allowing enough time should increase your chances of returning from a shopping trip reasonably satisfied and intact.
After deciding what to give the children — and ensuring that they do not already have it, long forgotten in the bottom of the wardrobe — keep in mind the importance of safety and durability. Safety, especially for younger children, is of utmost importance. Make sure the toy is durable and can be used anywhere. There would be little point in buying a toy which would not survive child territory
— like outside, and in mud and sand. Have a think about the toy — if it is a one-minute wonder, that is all it may ever be.
Before venturing forth it is a good idea to take a list — like going to the supermarket. You will be less likely to buy on the spur of the moment and perhaps regret it. With the range and choice of toys available it should be possible to find something suitable for each child.
Teddy’s Toy Box has toys, games, books and children’s sports equipment for children of all ages. Soft toys, a traditional gift, are still very popular with children as well as adults. The Cabbage Patch Kids have been a big hit this year and children always enjoy the company of dolls and soft cuddly toys. Trivial Pursuits, which swept through the United States is now available in its New Zealand form. A toy to take anywhere — especially to the bath — are
the Magi Colour Bath Toys, which change colour in water. Teddy’s has a selection of “Masters of the Universe” characters from various adventure films, and also “ATeam” merchandise. They have the popular Machine Men and Transformers. Cricket bats and cricket sets are in demand for outdoor games. Teddy’s Toy Box also has dolls, Barbie Dolls, Matchbox Toys, Spokey Dokeys and many other toys and games.
