Invasion plan

Sir, — Since your publishing of my recent letter about New Zealand and Australia agreeing to join the United States in an invasion of Indonesia in the 19505, through the invoking of the A.N.Z.U.S. pact, I have received many interesting comments. What is not generally understood is that the invasion did not take place because there was an uprising in Indonesia, with the result that the Government of President Sukarno was replaced with one sympathetic to the West. If

the revolution had not taken place, it is quite likely that our troops would have been involved in an armed attack against Indonesia. — Yours, etc., B. R. HANSEN. December 2, 1985.
