Summer Times
For the third year In a row the opening of the Summer Times festival programme has had to be postponed because of rain. The lunchtime programme was to have been launched in Cathedral Square yesterday, but was postponed until today because of rain. Today’s programme will be held, weather permitting, in the Square between midday and 2 pan. One of the festival organisers, Ms Mary Williams, said the rain was “just a fact of life. I’m sure it’s not an indication of what the summer will be like,” she said. Today’s launching programme will incorporate items planned for yesterday as well as some from today’s programme. Any postponements or
cancellations will be broadcast on 3ZB, 3ZM and Radio Avon. TODAY Midday to 1225 p.m_Launching ceremony for lunchtime activities in Cathedral Square. Entertainment includes a Maori welcome by Nga Hau E Wha marae. 1225 pmj TwoTimers, an Australian duo. 1.15 p.mj The Cashmere Rhythmic Gym team. 1.30 p.m., Out in the Open cabaret.
