Ruthless injured
By JEFF SCOTT Ruthless has been forced out of the $35,000 Curtains Farm Thames Trotting Cup (C 8 and faster) on Friday week after a freak accident on Friday left him with a severed blood vessel in a heel. “We were a bit worried for a while, it looked more serious than it is,” the entire’s Rangiora trainer, Bob Nyhan, said “They tried to stitch it but it just burst open again and he lost a massive amount of blood, but the wound was taped up from Friday until this morning before the veterinary surgeon assessed the situation.” “It has healed very well
but he’ll be confined to his box for another week,” Nyhan said. The incident occurred when Ruthless lashed out and caught the edge of a blacksmith’s trailer, the act being totally out of character for the normally quiet Scottish Hanover — Barbara Del entire. “He’s quite well within himself and should be racing again after a few weeks,” Nyhan added. “I had been working him the Auckland way round and he goes very well. Coming in off the front, and that type of racing, going hard all the way, would have really suited him,” he said.
