Club president has success

The. president of the Greymouth Jockey Club, Mr Jack O’Donnell, is unlikely to forget the proceedings at Omoto on Saturday for some time; Mr O’Donnell is a partowner of Lass O’Mine, an impressive winner of the Roseal Maiden, the only event run on the course on Saturday, but was unable to celebrate the success until later in the day as he was immediately involved in an inspection of the track and

the subsequent decision to postpone the remainder of the programme. Lass O’Mine, a member of the Ashburton team of Jim Lalor, was at odds of better than 14-to-one when she beat her ported stablemate, Nicolai Bay, in the 1100 m event on Saturday, but there was obviously considerable stable confidence in the pair’s prospects, for the quinella dividend was a surprisingly short $10.15.
