Laos ‘cold chain’

PA Wellington The Government and the Save the Children Fund are sharing the $40,000 cost of setting up an immunisation programme in Laos. The money will be used to set up a “cold chain” which precedes every immunisation project: the series of freezers, refrigera-

tors and insulated flasks required for the transport and delivery of vaccine at controlled temperatures. The immunisation programme had already proved its worth in a dozen of the world’s poorest countries since it began in 1979, said the New Zealand fund president, Mrs Betty Pearson.
