Kirk blames jail air
PA Wellington John Kirk said yesterday that he had a chest complaint that he picked up from the jail air-condition-ing in Dallas.
He said he was on medication but the problem was taking a long time to clear
up. Kirk, the former member of Parliament for Syden-
ham, said that his first day on periodic detention went “fine.” Kirk was sentenced in the District Court in Wellington last week, to four months periodic detention for three offences under the Insolvency Act. The first day of the detention involved painting, taking rubbish to the dump and “doing what they said.”
