Sectional timer ready
Special correspondent Auckland A sectional timer is likely, at long last, to be in use on the second night of the Auckland Trotting Club’s meeting at Alexandra Park next Saturday. Situated at the end of the drivers board in the centre of the course, it will give the times for the first quarter, half-mile, six furlongs, and mile in one mile races. For distances beyond a mile, the times shown will be for the same sections in the last mile of the race. The secretary of the club, Mr Jim Patterson, said problems associated with the project had been overcome. Among them was an unexpected delay in surveying. “But things are looking good now,” he said. “We expect the timer to be in operation on the second night of the meeting.”
