NAS buys engineering division

National Advanced Systems (New Zealand), Ltd, last week announced its acquisition of the customer engineering services division of Control Data New Zealand, Ltd. NAS acquired the 19-per-son organisation and its assets for an undisclosed sum. A Control Data spokesman said NAS was chosen over the 12 other competing vendors because of its professionalism, its long-term commitment to New Zealand, and its demonstrated dedication to serving the needs of Control Data’s customers and staff. NAS has now taken over maintenance at Control Data’s 14 major sites and 150 third-party sites in New Zealand.

Earlier this year, Control Data stopped selling its products in New Zealand. In recent months, it has sought a New Zealand company to service both the Control Data installed base and its third-party maintenance business. The Control Data spokesman said initial response from customers regarding their new relationship with NAS was very favourable. “We are certain our customers will benefit from their association with a quality vendor such as NAS,” the spokesman said. NAS is a wholly owned subsidiary of National Semiconductor Corporation of the United States.
