Chch firms order A3
Two of Burroughs’ largest customers in Christchurch have recently placed orders for new mainframe computers. Both SIMU and Pyne Gould Guinness, Ltd, will be installing ' Burroughs A 3 computers in the next few months. The A 3 is the entrylevel computer in Burroughs new A series mainframe range. SIMU runs a large network consisting of 87 terminals and 21 printers
throughout the South Island. Its present 81900 computer will be replaced with an A 3 with 12 megabytes of memory late next month. At the same time SIMU will convert its software, written in LINC, to the new version of LINC which has just been released. Pyne Gould Guinness has two 81900 computers. Initially one computer will be replaced by an A 3, scheduled to be installed early next year.
