Choice of books
Sir,—After reading the article in “The Press” today about a book 1 called “Jenny lives with Eric and Martin,” what concerns me is what right has any librarian to make moral decisions on such topics as homosexuality. This book is obviously promoting homosexual acts as normal and trying to say homosexuality is all right. Ms Tait, the Deputy City Librarian, has no right to be the judge of moral standards in this city, let alone to promote this type of book in a children’s section of the library. Perhaps it is time for the City Council to scrutinise its books more thoroughly and stop any attempt to promote unlawful acts through children’s books. — Yours, etc.,\ : WAYNE RISSMAN. .
