Lomondy to regain form

Special correspondent Wellington Lomondy, a beaten favourite in his open-class debut at Hawera last week, could atone when he contests the Sanson Motels Handicap at the Rangitikei Racing Club’s meeting at Awapuni tomorrow. Lomondy has looked one of the most promising stayers in the Central Districts with three.wins from his first four starts this season. He flopped badly at Hawera last week when he was unsuited by the easy track. He is certainly much better than that run would indicate and he should be given another chance. He had won his previous start at Awapuni in most impressive fashion and is expected to bounce back to form here. His toughest opposition could come from Saddleback. The mare returned a fine effort on the first day at Trentham when she finished a close third behind Fuego and Kiwi. She started again at Trentham on Monday but floundered in the soft track and was a battling eighth. That run should be overlooked if she strikes firm going. Tamworth looked very

promising last season and should be improved by recent racing, while Yale and Fantastic have been racing soundly. A wet track would bring Vincere into favour after his fine win at Trentham on Monday. Silver Samurai looks an improver for the Ross Roofing Handicap, which completes the T.A.B. double. He has returned two , good, efforts on soft ground since resuming and will be better placed on firm ground.
