A chance to look around

The Cashmere Club — meeting place, sports center, recreational facility, dining and entertainment venue — is opening its doors to new members. Lasting friendships and numerous activities are just some of the benefits of this club, which has an allowable membership of 2000. To show the club’s fine facilities to the public, it is holding an Open Week from tomorrow to Saturday, November 9, for families, friends, sportspeople, craftspeople, hobbyists*— and all potential members. The club’s numerous and diverse activities will be on view, and available to nonmembers to sample during this week. Open Week is planned to promote the club in its true image: a friendly community centre with literally something for everyone. Brendon V7ilson, the club’s secretary-manager, says that a visit to the wellequipped building and spacious grounds at 88 Hunter Terrace, Cashmere, will show the range of facilities available. “This is a community club,” Brendon says. “Membership is open to men and women on exactly the same terms, and a particular wel-

come is extended to family groups.” The name, Cashmere, refers only to the club’s location, but anyone from any part of the city may apply for membership, and enjoy the wide range of activities and benefits offered. Among the sports available are squash, badminton, indoor bowls, golf, pool and table tennis. Regular club nights and competitions are held in all these. Junior squash players may join the squash section on their own account. There is a housewives’ morning squash session each week. A pleasant lounge and TV area overlooks the court, and is an ideal play area for the children during these sessions. The courts are available to members 24 hours a day. The complete membership fee for the Cashmere Club, from now until the end of the financial year, on March 31, 1986, is $5O per person. The usual annual fee is $6O for membership plus $25 entrance fee.
