first full-time director of the New Zealand Rowing Foundation, the promotional, educational and fund-raising arm of the New Zealand Amateur Rowing Association. From the four-oared crew, shown
West End Rowing Club, both Dickie and Joyce (in No. 6 seat) went on to win further golds in the New Zealand eight at the 1971 European championships at Copenhagen and the Munich Olympics the next year.
