ATTENTION A MITSUBISHI VEHICLE OWNERS Over 8,000 Cars and Light Commercials are to be recalled urgently by Mitsubishi Dealers to check for incorrectly assembled retractable seat belts. The completely assembled belt sets, ready for installation, are supplied to Tbdd Motors by Simon Metal Products. Following discovery of two retractable belts with webbing wrongly threaded through the buckle, an urgent recall programme is being initiated. Belts improperly threaded would be ineffective in an accident. At this stage, one other manufacturer is also affected, and others are currently carrying out checks. The bulk of the Mitsubishi vehicles affected are Sigma, Tredia, Cordia and Mirage cars, Chariot, L2OO and L3OO light commercials built after 1 April 1985 with only a small number prior to that. Owners will be contacted by their Tbdd Dealer during the next few days to arrange for their vehicles to be checked — a process that will take just a minute or two. The Ministry of Transport has been advised of the problem and their testing stations have been alerted. T0D472
