Govt ‘must’ help farmers
PA Hamilton The Government must act now to support farmers and ensure the continued economic welfare of provincial cities and boroughs, says the Mayor of Hamilton, Mr Ross Jansen. Speaking to the city’s business community, Mr Jansen said it was no longer a question of whether support should be given to the farming sector. What should be decided
was what form the support or relief should take and how extensive it should be. Unless action was taken there would be a serious effect on the areas of local governments close to the fanning sector. “This relates , particularly to those cities and boroughs of New Zealand which look to the- farming sector for the viability of the commercial interest within those municipalities,” he said.
