Teacher fails
A school-teacher, Mr Gary Osborne, .failed in his, third bid to win a seat on the board of the Countrywide Building Society. Mr Osborne, who has campaigned since the . 1981 merger of. the Western and Auckland terminating societies with Countrywide to get better rights for terminating members, polled 400 votes short of unseating a long-standing board member, Mr Scott MacDonald.
Resignation Mr A. L. Carpenter is to resign as chairman of McConnell Dowell Corporation, Ltd, effective from October 31. Mr Carpenter said his decision arose as a result of demands which other activities made on his time, namely the chairmanship of New Zealand Equities and a number of other directorships.
