The Minister of Finance, Mr Douglas, spent more than an hour with Canterbury trade unionists yesterday explaining Government economic policy and answering questions. Mr Douglas was invited to speak to the trade union representatives by the Can-
terbury Trades Council, which held the meeting in the conference room of the Trade Union Centre. Mr Douglas was preceded by his namesake, Mr Ken Douglas, who addressed unionists on the proposed Council of Trade Unions and also answered questions. Mr
Ken Douglas is secretary of the Federation of Labour. Representatives of trade unions affiliated to the Labour Party met for the affiliated unions’ annual meeting at the Girl Guides hall about 100 m from the Trade Union Centre.
