Constable hurt by bottle
PA Auckland An Otahuhu police constable in his first month on the job was recovering at home yesterday after a beer bottle was smashed in his face.
Constable Jeremy Chisholm, fresh out of the National Police College at Porirua, was injured while investigating a burglary in Otara on Saturday afternoon.
The police called to the
scene found four youths who turned on them, throwing bottles. A bottle smashed across Constable Chisholm’s face. He was taken to Middlemore Hospital where he had 12 stitches in the wound and was discharged. Four youths were arrested. They will appear in the District Court at Otahuhu and the Children and Young Persons Court charged with assault on the police.
