Talks on dumping meat
PA Wellington The Minister of Agriculture, Mr Moyle, will discuss the dumping of E.E.C. beef and veal on Asian markets with the Community’s Commissioner for Agriculture. The commissioner, Mr Frans Andriessen, will be in Wellington next month.
Earlier this month the Community announced that it would extend export restitutions to beef and veal exported to Pakistan, Vietnam, Sri Lanka, Burma, Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines, China, North Korea and Hong Kong. New Zealand Embassy officials in Brussels expressed strong concern about the move to E.E.C. commissioners last week, Mr Moyle said.
He told Parliament that he was satisfied with an undertaking from E.E.C. commissioners obtained by the Australian Government in February.
This was to the effect that the E.E.C. would refrain from applying refunds on beef and veal exports to Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, Singapore and Taiwan.
