Mt Cook accident
PA Timaru An injured man was lifted by helicopter off Mount Cook yesterday after falling 30 metres into a crevasse. Mr Greg Aimer, of Dunedin, suffered severe bruising and leg injuries. The duty ranger at Mount Cook, Mr Dean Nelson, said Mr Aimer had stayed at the Gardiner Hut on Saturday night. He and his partner, Mr Alistair Mark, also of Dunedin, yesterday turned back because of deteriorating weather. While coming out Mr Aimer fell. Mr Mark hauled his partner out of the crevasse by rope and the two walked to the Hooker Hut.
