Four Marian College sixthform pupils demonstate one of their one-handed ball games which won a national competition for ways to increase the participation of the disabled in sports and recreation. The girls, from left, Amberea Young (front), Colleen Sequin, Sandra Nolan (rear), and Kathleen Bignell, adapted a series of
ball games to give disabled team members an equal chance. They show how, in one of their games, team members must score by getting the ball in the opposite team’s hockey net, using only one hand. The four, all keen sports women, won $3OO first prize. The competition was organised by the Council for Recreation and Sport.
