New laws on farming of ferrets
PA Wellington New regulations licensing the farming of ferrets, stoats, and weasels have been made, pursuant to the Wildlife Act, 1953, said the Minister of Internal Affairs, Mr. Peter Tapsell. The Wildlife (Farming of
Unprotected Wildlife) Regulations, 1985, impose standard security requirements on such farming operations and also prohibit the keeping in captivity of those wildlife in the Chatham Islands, Stewart Island, and Great Barrier Island.
