Awards made to hotels and restaurants
Eight South Island restarants and hotels were among 21 honoured for their high standards by the South Pacific Hotel and Catering Institute at a dinner in Noahs Hotel last evening. Golden plate awards were made to the Coachman Inn, Camelot Restaurant (Chateau Regency), Tiffany’s Restaurant, and Perry’s (Occidental). Southern recipients of the institute’s golden key awards for accommodation were the Christchurch Airport Travelodge, the T.H.C. Te Anau, King’s Hotel (Greymouth), and the Rutherford (Nelson). Mr Barry Rozynski, manager of the Christchurch Autolodge, was made a fellow of the institute, and Mr Oliver Henderson an honorary fellow. Other golden plate awards were presented to
four Wellington restaurants, Lavelles, Marbles, Petite Lyon, and the Bombay Bicycle Bar and Bistro. Auckland restaurants honoured were Delmonico’s (De Bretts), Top of the Town, the Hyatt, Le Gourmet, and Oblio’s Garden Restaurant. Golden key awards were made to the Sheraton Hotel Auckland, the Regent of Auckland, the Hyatt Kingsgate, the Hotel Rotorua, and Huka Lodge near Taupo.
