Gisborne coach is staying on
PA Gisborne The National coach, Mr Kevin Fallon, will stay on next season as coach of New Zealand Permanent Gisborne in the Rothmans soccer league. The Auckland club, Landbase Papatoetoe, wanted Fallon, aged 36, but he ended speculation when he announced his decision. Mr Fallon joined Gisborne in 1979, led them to the central league title and promotion to the national league. Since then Gisborne has won the 1984 Rothmans league, and was a Chatham Cup finalist in 1983 and 1984.
: Mr Fallon said his contemplation of a move to Auckland t was a “whim.” He told the team that in the 1 next month he would be speaking to each of them about their plans for next year. I Already four players had I indicated they were interested in coming to play for Gisborne , next season. I Two of these were the i striker, Kevin Meacock, and the mid-fielder, Paul McLoughlin, who played for Gisborne last season and were both signed by Cardiff City on their return to Britain.
