Cholera epidemic in Mali
NZPA-AFP Bamako Cholera is becoming endemic throughout Mali, says its Health Minister, Mr Mamadou Dembele. Appealing for international help, he said that in the year since last July, when the disease was first reported near the border with Niger, there had been 3939 cases, 859 of them fatal.
The spread of the epidemic was being worsened by big population movements caused by serious drought, he said.
