Baby Prince a redhead
NZPA-PA London t Prince Henry is probably t the first Royal redhead s since Queen Elizabeth I. His ginger locks were < revealed in public this week as he left with his parents 1 aboard the Royal yacht Bri- 1 tannia from Southampton i for their summer holidays in Scotland. ‘ Despite the regal ances- 1
try the colouring is unlikely to" come from his father’s side of the family. “The Princess of Wales can claim direct links to the Tudors — Henry VIII and Elizabeth I,” said Charles Kidd, editor of Debretts, the genealogical “Who’s Who.” “Elizabeth certainly had auburn hair, as did others of the Tudors. There is no-one
in the present Royal Family who has that type of colouring.” The Princess’s father, Earl Spencer, had red hair in his earlier days and there are definite hints of the colour in her sisters’ hair. The colour of 11-month-old Prince Henry’s hair was obvious from early on.
When quizzed by reporters on the doorstep of St Mary’s Hospital, Paddington, where his younger son was born in September, Prince Charles described the boy’s colouring as “reddish.” Until now Prince Henry has been kept out of the glare of publicity.
