Chch tourism cadet scheme to start
The Christchurch City Council’s tourism cadet scheme will be officially launched on Monday. Fifteen young people will spend 12 weeks on the course learning about various aspects of the tourism industry. Much of the course content has been taken by tutors from the tourist industry.
The scheme will beresearched by the council’s employment promotion department. A 26-page booklet outlines the skills that will be taught. These include formal training and on the job work in customer service, basic housekeeping, computer awareness, history, geography, travel and personal presentation skills. The Labour Department will fund the scheme.
