Chess replay soon
NZPA-AP Moscow The world chess champion, Anatoly Karpov, and challenger, Garri Kasparov, will begin to replay their championship match on September 3, says the Soviet news agency, Tass. Kasparov and Karpov met in a marathon match that began almost a year ago and ended after 48 games without conclusion. Karpov won five games, one
less than he needed to retain the championship, and Kasparov won three. President Florencio Campomanes of the World Chess Federation, said that both players were exhausted and stopped the match on February 15. The match that begins September 3 will be limited to 24 games, Tass said yesterday. Karpov will remain champion if the match is tied after the 24 games. .
