PHONE: 09-275-0750 LIBRARY MANAGER THE ROYAL New Zealand Foundation for the Blind is a statutory body which is responsible for providing a wide range of support services to people with visual impairments. The library, based at Head Office, Parnell, Auckland, presently provides talking books and braille services to over 3500 registered members of the Foundation. The library operates its own talking books, recording studios, and holds almost 4000 talking books and braille titles. An average of 1200 cassettes are handled in and out of the library each day. Shortly the library will be transferring its catalogue and reader information to a computer based file. The present vacancy is for a manager of library services. The principal responsibilities of the position are: maintain and extend the talking book and braille library services to visually impaired persons to the highest professional standards. The successful applicant will be responsible for, and work with, 20 full and part time staff. The position requires a sound administrator who is sensitive to volunteers and the public, and to members of the foundation and is able to fulfil a leadership role. Recognised library qualifications and/or experience in library management would be an advantage.
