Gray on Region
Denis Gray, the talented North Island amateur rider, will come south to ride Region in the Grand National Steeplechase tomorrow.
Stephen Jenkins, who rode the Taranaki grey in the Koral Steeplechase last Saturday, has switched to Alaska Lad for the National.
Gray, who forged a brilliant partnership with Hunterville at Ellerslie, has also found Riccarton rewarding.
He won the 1982 Grand National Steeplechase on Grey Warbler. A year later they triumphed in the Koral Steeplechase, then finished fourth in Royal Kassel’s Grand National.
