R.N.Z. expands its financial programmes
Radio New Zealand is responding to the growing demand for financial and economic information by today introducing a new midweek programme on the National network. Following the lines of the Saturday feature, “Money Matters,” the 15 minute Wednesday evening programme will be broadcast after the 10 p.m. news under the title “More Money Matters.” It will cover news and provide background on topical financial and economic events. The aim is to examine not only cheque book issues, but also to look at such matters as the .management of national resources and international financial developments of significance. “More Money Matters” will extend the range of investigative interviews and
reports already done in Saturday’s “Money Matters” and the producer, Margaret Inge, says it will enable her to introduce a new element to the week-end programme — an international money market segment. “Because it goes to air just two hours after the last of the major international money markets closes for the week, Saturday’s ‘Money Matters’ is ideally placed to review the week’s highlights from the financial capitals. In the past, I’ve been able to make only limited use of the contacts I’ve made in financial and investment institutions in Australia, Japan, Britain, Europe and the United States. “But now ‘Money Matters’ will be able to present their views as it encapsulates matters of interest from the major financial markets.”
