Woman hit by truck
An elderly Beckenham woman was seriously ill in Christchurch Hospital last evening after being hit by a truck while walking, near the corner of Wordsworth Street and Colombo Street yesterday morning. Mrs Annie Bishop, aged 85, of Young Street, suffered serious head and upper limb injuries in the accident, which happened about 11 a.m. In another accident, a male cyclist, aged 40, was taken to hospital with moderate head injuries after his bicycle and a car collided at the corner of Gayhurst Road and Locksley Avenue about 6 p.m. His name and condition were not available last evening.
