Southerner disrupted
PA Dunedin The Main South railway line between Dunedin and Oamaru was closed for several hours yesterday morning by a derailment at Goodwood, 6km south of Palmerston. The mishap occurred at 7.35 a.m. when one waggon of a northbound freight
train left the rails. It was three hours before the line reopened. Although freight was moving on the line again later in the morning, passengers on the northbound and southbound Southerners were carried by bus between Dunedin and Oamaru while communications were restored.
