Waiuta: Former Waiuta residents and others interested are asked to attend a meeting at the Forest Service conference room in Crampton Road, Reefton, at 7.30 p.m. on August 6 to discuss a proposed celebration at Easter next year to mark the eightieth anniversary of the beginning of gold prospecting in Reefton. The Forest Service plan to formally open the restored Waiuta Hospital at Easter and the jubilee, including a “Ghost Town” ball, could be held in conjunction with the opening. Interested people are asked to contact the Reefton Forest Service at P.O. Box 100, Reefton, telephone 853, or to attend the meeting on August 6. Ex-Royal Navelmen’s Association, South Canterbury branch: The second cruiser reunion of the branch is expected to attract over 600 wartime seamen at Labour week-end. The reunion is open to all cruise personnel and former navalmen who served in World War 11. Members hope to see former shipmates from the Diomede, Dunedin, Achilles. Cornelius: A reunion ol the late David James ant Jamesina Gordon nee Forrester who were married or July 1, 1870, in Glasgow will be held at Easter weekend, 1986. The couple immigrated to New Zealand with their two children on the ship Dunedin, arriving at Lyttelton on April 6, 1874. They settled at Dunsandel. David James was a ploughman and was also the local pound keeper. All their children attended the Selwyn School. Would any descendants please contact W. B. and M. A.
